Talc Powder Manufacturers and Suppliers in India

Sudarshan Group produces and supplies talcum powder from Rajasthan's high-purity ore deposits in two dedicated grades: paper grade and cosmetic grade (micronized). Brightness range: 80% to 95%. Serving paper mills, cosmetic formulators, plastic compounders, paint manufacturers, and ceramic producers across India and overseas.

What Is Talcum Powder?

Talcum powder is made from talc a naturally occurring hydrated magnesium silicate mineral with the formula Mg₃Si₄O₁₀(OH)₂. Talc sits at hardness 1 on the Mohs scale, the softest mineral in the standard classification, which gives it the characteristic softness and smoothness that makes it useful across industrial and cosmetic applications.

In its unprocessed form, talc is also called steatite or soapstone. Once the raw ore is crushed, milled, classified, and in the case of cosmetic grades micronized, the result is the fine white powder used in paper, plastics, paint, ceramics, and personal care products. The mineral is chemically inert, hydrophobic, and thermally stable, which is why it performs reliably as a filler and functional additive across different industries.

India is one of the world's leading producers of talc, and Rajasthan is where most of that production is concentrated including Sudarshan Group's mining and processing operations.

Talc Powder Grades We Manufacture

We run separate processing lines for each grade. Buyers receive grade-specific products, not a single output relabeled for different markets.

Paper Grade Talc Powder

Used in papermaking as a filler and pitch control agent. Paper grade talc improves opacity, brightness, and formation in the finished sheet. It absorbs wood resin (pitch) from mechanical pulp, the sticky deposits that otherwise stain paper and foul the machine.

Suited for newsprint, printing paper, magazine stock, and writing paper. Long-standing supply to paper mills across India for over 30 years.

Brightness: 80% – 90%

Cosmetic Grade Talc (Micronized)

Processed through micronization to achieve fine particle sizes in the 5–15 micron range. This fineness is responsible for the silky feel cosmetic talc is known for, and it also ensures even blending in powder formulations. Held to strict purity standards: nil Fe₂O₃, nil Al₂O₃, and tested clean for asbestiform minerals.

Used in face powders, compact powders, body powders, eye shadow bases, and antiperspirant sticks.

Why Rajasthan Produces India's Best Talc Powder

Rajasthan accounts for approximately 90% of India's total talc output. The Udaipur–Bhilwara geological belt holds the densest concentration of talc ore deposits in the subcontinent, ore bodies that have naturally low iron content, which is the single biggest factor in achieving the high brightness levels that paper mills and cosmetic manufacturers require.

Sudarshan Group sources raw ore directly from established mines in this belt. No trading intermediaries, no ore blending from distant sources. Our processing plant sits close to the mine, which shortens ore transit, reduces moisture pickup during transport, and gives us tighter control over raw material grade before milling begins. For buyers, this means consistent brightness and chemistry from one order to the next.

Manufacturers sourcing talc from other Indian states or through traders who blend multiple origins often find it harder to guarantee lot-to-lot consistency in Fe₂O₃ levels and brightness. Rajasthan-origin talc, processed at source, largely avoids this problem.

Why Buyers Choose Sudarshan Group as Their Talc Powder Supplier

Direct Mine-to-Mill Supply Chain

We source raw talc ore from Rajasthan's Udaipur belt, process it at our own milling facility, and dispatch from our plant. No trading intermediaries. If there is a quality issue, it can be traced and corrected at source  not passed off to a supplier further up the chain.

Three Decades of Grade Consistency

Our paper and cosmetic grade customers return because we don't change raw ore sources without technical evaluation and advance notification. Batch-to-batch consistency in brightness, Fe₂O₃ levels, and particle size is something we track and maintain, not just claim.

Two Separate Processing Lines

Paper grade and cosmetic/micronized grade are processed separately, not on shared equipment. Buyers don't receive the same output with different labels. Each grade is milled and classified to its own specification.

Customized Particle Size and Packaging

If your formulation needs a specific top-cut, a particular brightness minimum, or non-standard bag sizes, contact our technical team. We work with buyers whose requirements fall outside our standard specs more often than most suppliers realize.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Common questions from procurement managers, cosmetic formulators, and industrial buyers.

    What is the difference between paper grade and cosmetic grade talc powder?
    Paper grade talc is milled to a broader particle size distribution (typically 10–45 microns), suited for filler and pitch control in papermaking. Cosmetic grade goes through micronization to reach finer particle sizes (typically 5–15 microns), and is held to stricter purity standards: nil heavy metals, no asbestiform minerals, higher brightness (up to 95% vs 80–90% for paper grade). Processing cost for micronized cosmetic grade is higher, which is reflected in pricing.
    What brightness levels does Sudarshan Group's talc powder achieve?
    Our talcum powder has a brightness range of 80% to 95% depending on grade. Paper grade talc typically falls in the 80–90% range. Cosmetic grade (micronized) talc reaches up to 95% brightness. If your application requires a specific minimum brightness value, mention it in your inquiry and we will confirm availability.
    What is the chemical composition of talc powder?
    Talc is chemically hydrated magnesium silicate (Mg₃Si₄O₁₀(OH)₂). Our talc powder analysis: SiO₂ 60%, MgO 32%, CaO 0.50%, Fe₂O₃ nil, Al₂O₃ nil. Loss on ignition at 1050°C is 5%. pH value is 8.5 (ISO 787/9). The nil Fe₂O₃ reading is significant — iron contamination is what causes yellowing in brightness-sensitive applications like paper and cosmetics.
    Why is Rajasthan the main talc powder producing region in India?
    Rajasthan accounts for approximately 90% of India's total talc production. The Udaipur–Bhilwara geological belt holds dense talc ore bodies with naturally low iron content — which is what makes achieving high brightness commercially viable. Manufacturers and suppliers in this region can source ore directly, process it on-site, and control quality from mine to finished powder. Other Indian states either have smaller reserves or lower-purity ore that limits achievable brightness.
    Can you supply micronized talc powder for cosmetic manufacturers?
    Yes. Cosmetic grade micronized talc is a dedicated product line at Sudarshan Group, processed separately from paper/industrial grade. We supply both small-batch cosmetic manufacturers and bulk industrial formulation facilities. Contact us with your particle size requirement and quantity for a quote.
    What should I check when selecting a talc powder supplier in India?
    Ask for:
    (1) a Certificate of Analysis (COA) for the specific batch you'll receive, not a generic spec sheet;
    (2) Fe₂O₃ levels — even small amounts of iron cause discoloration in white-sensitive applications;
    (3) whether the supplier owns their own processing or trades across origins;
    (4) particle size distribution data (D50, D90), not just a single 'mesh' number;
    (5) a trial sample before placing a bulk order.

    Suppliers based in Rajasthan with integrated mining/milling operations are generally more consistent than commodity traders.
    Does Sudarshan Group supply talc powder for export outside India?
    Yes. We supply talc powder to international buyers. For export inquiries — including grade requirements, packaging specification, loading port, and documentation needs — please use the inquiry form on this page or contact us directly.
